SO, WHO'S THAT GUY IN THE LAB-COAT?

Doctor Gill has been working in motion graphics, video editing, animation, and art direction since 2008 (although, RedBlack Labs was established in 2011). Based in Kuala Lumpur, RedBlack Laboratories is a solo creative operation — which means when you work with RBL, you're working directly with the person doing the work.

Over the years, the client list has included Kia, Perodua, 3CE, Maybelline, Maybank, Hennessy, Goodyear, WWF, TicTac, Maggi, and Sunway Lagoon, among others. The work that stands out most isn't always the biggest name — it's the stuff where there was enough trust and creative room to do something that actually landed.

The approach is straightforward: show up prepared, deliver on time, and put in the extra effort that makes the difference between work that's fine and work that performs. Clients tend to describe the experience as low-drama and high-output. That's intentional.

RBL works best on projects where there's a clear direction, enough breathing room to do the job properly, and an openness to creative input that goes beyond executing a brief. The goal is always to push things just past the safe zone — not for the sake of it, but because that's usually where the good stuff lives.
